You've seen it before. It's when you go to a website, looking for a product or service you need at the moment, but you're lost- lost in a sea of pop-ups, confusing text, and unclear directions. It's easy to don't know what you're looking for and exit out of the website without buying any product, feeling frustrated and annoyed with the entire experience.

This is NOT how you would like your clients to feel. Prioritizing the customer experience will help you stop this from happening on your sales page.

It is essential to think about User Experience (UX) in the design of your sales web page. UX encompasses every aspect of the interaction between the customer and the business it provides services and the products it offers, such as the way that users feel regarding their experience on the site.

In order to help your visitors get the most out of your website and to make the most of their time on your page make sure you design your page with them in their minds. This is how you can do it:

1. Find out about Your Audience

Consider who might be interested in your offerings to them, and then focus on the needs of those who will purchase. Are they knowledgeable about the services you offer, or should you provide a brief explanation on your home page? Do they want a service you don't provideand if so, are you make your site more accessible to meet that need for your customers?

Request feedback from your clients when they have finished their shopping the site. Be open to their feedback. You never know what feedback will give you a new amazing idea to increase your sales!

When you have a better understanding of your clients and their needs, you can optimize your sales page to direct them towards what they need as well as cut out unnecessary information that distracts users from completing their purchase.

2. Be Accessible

Accessibility is a major issue in the current UX field, but it's not the only reason why you shouldn't design using it as a consideration. The ability to make your content accessible for people who have disabilities broadens your audience and tears down walls that otherwise would restrict access to the content.

Here are some ideas to make your page's sales accessible:

  • Select text with a high-contrast contrast and backgrounds. If your site's background is white, then use black text and the reverse. Do not use colors as the only method to differentiate links- if there is a red link while another is green, people with red-green colorblindness might not be able to tell the difference. Another method to distinguish links is by using designs to direct users (ie: "Click the square button").
  • Add closed captions to your audio or video content. Although manually writing captions may not be an enjoyable job however, it is essential for hearing impaired people to be able to use this feature. It's good to know that there are AI tools that automatize your captions, or you can hire a freelancer to complete this for your.
  • Do not use strobing lighting or quickly changing brightness levels, which may negatively affect people with photosensitivity as well as people suffering from epilepsy. Some websites should feel like a dance party, but your sales page should not be one of them.

Accessibility is not a one-and-done solution, so it's important to think about it whenever you're building something new on your sales website. Go through the Web Accessibility Initiative to ensure that your site is up to date in line with the most recent standards.

3. Keep it consistent

Use the same terms for your product throughout the site, so that your visitors aren't getting disoriented. Do not label your product a pamphlet, instructional manual, the complete non-fiction handbook, and guidebook companion all on the same website. Stick to one title so your audience will understand what they're getting.
