Subscription Dashboard Reporting Calculation Improvements
MRR and ARR Calculation
In the past upgrade, downgrades as well as add-ons, were sometimes not tracked or handled correctly with respect to subscription reports. This issue has been fixed in the past, and calculations should be more correct going forward.
What Changes Should I See in My Store?
If you're a frequent user of upgrades, downgrades or other add-ons it is possible that you will see your MRR and ARR change slightly resulting from the updated calculation. These calculations are more accurate than previous reporting with these fixes. If you still have questions, please reach out to [email protected].
The past is a part of history. MRR Changes
In the past, we relied on to use the deactivation date to search for cancellation date and would then remove MRR contributions, which had the unfortunate side effect changing the historical MRR values. To address this problem, we've improved our analytical tools to detect cancellation events that occur on the day of cancellation and eliminate MRR contribution at that time.
Examples of changes
Let's consider an example of an annual subscription activated in January 2023. The subscription was cancelled in May 2023, and later deactivated in the month of December 2023. In our earlier MRR contribution calculation would not be changed until the end of December 2023. It could also alter the MRR contribution for the period of May to December of 2023.
Now, with the dates from the example above the calculation removes the MRR contribution of the contract, beginning at cancellation in May of 2023 and results in an more accurate MRR changes calculation.
What Changes Should I See at My Store?
For some sellers, this could result in a slight rise in the number of cancellations, and also a decrease in MRR for active customers and subscriptions. If you have questions about the reporting process, feel free to reach out to [email protected].
