They say time flies when you're enjoying yourself, so it must feel as if you're also operating a bustling online company.
As we enter the second quarter of 2024 Let's take a look back the exciting developments you may have been missing in the endless Naruto race that is the world of e-commerce.
New products and innovations could help to simplify your lives and allow you more time to enjoy your success the rest of the year.
What's new in
Continue to enhance the product editor
Since launching our new product editor in 2023 we've been constantly innovating the experience and add compatibility for your favorite extensions. Below are some recent updates that make more efficient than ever before to create and manage product.
New editor, smarter interface Cover image shown next to the name of the product to provide a more visual structure Also, we've added brand new tags that clearly indicate the Draft as well as hidden product statuses.
Speaking of Product Add-ons: The latest version of the software means that it's now possible to manually create orders with customized options as well as edit add-ons in existing orders and choose alternative options when products aren't in stock. We've also paved the way to provide future analytics capabilities through a change to the way data is saved.
Cart and Checkout blocks become lighter and more user-friendly
For performance reasons our team has streamlined the process JavaScript was built to work with the Cart as well as Checkout blocks, resulting in substantially less data payloads for each webpage. The Cart block sees an 11percent reduction in the amount of data, while Checkout is reduced by 17.9% -- bringing the speed of your website up with every stage.
Other checkout options are now transitioning from a beta version to an official feature. These new fields are user-friendly and give you more ways to collect additional information about your customer or their order.
Visual updates consist of a refreshed order summary (with sticky functions on desktops) more clear display of local pickup options and improved layout of the address form, and adjustments to check-out steps. Additionally, we have made adjustments to the accessibility of checkout to provide a better shopping experience for everyone.
More robust mobile apps -- now on smart watches
There are more cards accessible on the dashboard of the app which includes your Woo admin inbox, recently reviewed reviews, active coupons, the level of stock and orders made in recent days. Make action straight using the cards that you use often, and block the ones you don't use -- it's yours to set your own way.
The strength of Woo wherever you go. You'll be able to check your day-to-day stats as well as order history and order details directly on your smart watch.
More stylish and BNPL discovery in WooPayments
WooPay adds even more efficiency and speed
After buyers hit "Proceed to pay" they'll be taken straight to the secure, fast (and already 2.5x more profitable!) WooPay checkout. This isn't all. We've added performance improvements beneath the hood, so WooPay is also faster to load than ever.
We also made it easier for WooPay users to discover and make use of their preferred payment method. New "Alternative payment options" hyperlink in the Pay With section sends shoppers right to the checkout of your shop- with all of their checkout information pre-filled with data from WooPay. Make it easier for shoppers and provide a significant speed increase to your checkout flow.
Another change that is brand-friendly is that The WooPay The Light along with the Outline themed buttons have been changed to a neutral white background for better compatibility with the colors of store brands.
Better views and understanding for The Order Attribution
This year we introduced earlier this year, we introduced an Order Attribution view that displays the order's source to help you make informed choices about how to spend your time and budget. In 8.9 the release, we have introduced an Attribution column into the table of orders and to the report. This means you'll have additional ways to view and make use of your information.
