The support for customers who are new has been stopped in Russia as well as updating our guidelines for content

Mar 16, 2022

The attack on Ukraine is devastating. We're shocked and devastated by the impact that it has had on people immediately after the conflict, which has resulted in thousands of people killed and millions more displaced. We are with Ukraine and we condemn the unprovoked attack that is unjustified and unjustified. We're shocked by the extraordinary determination of our workers located in the affected regions as well as of the entire population of Ukraine.

We rely on the power of videos to communicate the truth in a manner unlike any other media. It is especially crucial in times of world crisis. The dangers of misinformation and propaganda are even greater. There has never been a decision to stop the service of users due to political events. There have been recent events that took place -for instance, Russia's latest "fake news" law that can punish users as long as 15 years of prison for publishing content -which made it more difficult for us to continue our service in the same way we did in the past.

Due to our actions, we're discontinuing support to new customers from Russia and we'll announce new content guidelines that provide more precise information about what we define as propaganda and false information on our platform. We want to make sure that we are balancing the rights to speak our mind and the obligation to safeguard our users from content which could cause harm or danger.

Starting today:

  • We are not accepting any prospective customers who are located in Russia we will allow access to customers who have adhered to and have not violated the guidelines of our community, and are not subject to international sanctions.
  • This serves as an opportunity to further improve our rules for content, by specifically banning false and misleading content (including fake stories and propagandists, and inconclusive or unsubstantiated conspiracy theories) that pose a grave risk of harm to a person or group or to people in general.
  • We do not trade with organisations that have been widely restricted by countries other than the U.S. It is the same with regard to Russian state-owned media, which have been banned in the EU.

We'll continue to stand by our Ukrainian staff and our users, and look for ways to help those affected communities. This could include offering moving services or financial aid to employees or match the donations of employees to charities operating in Ukraine by using our platform to increase the voice of the people of Ukraine that are directly affected by the devastation of war and also to help educate those who do not receive exact information on the situation at present.

We hope and pray for a peaceful resolution soon.
