Ten Ways Jo Kelly Coaches People To Be Great Actors

May 8, 2024

Jo Kelly isn't your average acting instructor.

She doesn't use the word "teacher" in any manner "I don't have anything to do in the manner of instructing people on how about how to conduct themselves" she states. "I help people to stop being a nuisance."

Through classes that emulate life in the present, Jo coaches mainly actors as well as artists of every kind and non-artist "seekers" in how to attain inner peace and be their best authentic selves. In this way, performers can stop doing and start becoming. "I would like to be an acupuncturist rather than a coach, because I help people return to who they are and to be rejuvenated" she explains.

She believes that the main ingredient to a successful actor lies in their satisfaction and capability to commit themselves fully to their character. "When you're fully secured, you're in a position to share your story and people are in the loop," she says.

Her innovative approach to coaching actors she encourages them to tap into their child's fascination, imagination and play. What does this mean? They are live, authentic, and raw live performance.

In the year 2016, Jo switched from coaching in person to starting an online-based business by . Since that time, she's led three consecutive learning journeys and has helped more than 8,000 people. The team has seen remarkable results since joining Jo in addition to securing roles in some of the top studios, including Netflix, HBO, Disney, Showtime, ABC Studios and many more.

Here's how she built an online business that's doing the things she's interested in:

Skip ahead:

She carried out her own research

Jo was an original way to get into acting.

Birthplace: Belgium It was her home country of Belgium. She earned an MBA after which she specialized in the area of management of human resources and the system psychology. The following years, she worked as a corporate coach. "The corporate environment never felt like it was my style," she shares. "I made the choice to end everything and move to Paris to start afresh. ."

One of the main reasons she took the decision to begin over was trying her hand at acting, which she fell in the love of. She was an extremely dedicated and hardworking person and she invested all of her efforts and time into developing skills to be the best actor she could be.

Despite all her devotion to her craft, she says that she was a decent actor but wasn't a star. Much like the majority of actors, she suffered from stage fright. "Most of my cast members had this same problem," she says. "We were so ferocious and when it came time to get on stage the role, we were scared ."

The actress was determined to figure out the factors that stopped her or others from becoming most popular actors. "My curiosity became obsessional," She says. "I am interested in understanding why actors are dedicated and passionate, yet reduce their commitment when it is time to them do their work. ."

In the following years In the years following she researched ways players might experience the sense that they are trapped. The study she carried out has led to her conclusion that when kids play, they're in their own control. But when adults behave in the same manner and don't in control, they've lost their independence due to the influence of society. "When I realized that, I decided to dedicate the rest of my time to support actors to overcome the stereotypes that limit them and let them be themselves and express their authentic self and experience the same youthful enthusiasm they once had," explains Jo.

Her coaching journey began in year 2000.

Jo's experiential research led her to study various somatic techniques and methods and then tried them along with her clients in the private or group coaching at the start of 2000. In the following years Jo named her business to be or not to act.

Then she realized that her students were not accountable. "No regardless of how committed my coworkers were it isn't realistic to expect them to show up every single all day. Even if we had a meeting each week, we'd only meet three times. There was nothing to do during the time between sessions. The ball could be removed without issue even if I wasn't there." Jo explains. Jo.

The idea was that online classes would allow students to stay constant in their work. They consider their online courses to be "journeys," and the one that she first instructs students through The Reset: From Resistance to Freedom. The Reset: From Resistance to Freedom that she developed in 2014. "I started to create The Reset so that I could assist people throughout every single day that it takes," she explains.
"Since the website is live and accessible to users, they can make this happen on their own time and set their own timetables."

Jo is of the belief that humans have a pure soul. Yet, socialization teaches us to behave as we feel, think and do the things that we do. According to Jo The primary goal of the Reset is to help participants engage in regular exercise, helping people overcome their limitations and revert back to their natural nature. Every day, in The Reset, Jo offers the workouts recorded. She also provides 2 Q&As and 2 pods to work in groups along with a third semi-Q&A where she provides answers to the questions frequently asked in the group on Facebook that are private.

Adjusting the duration of the learning online allows students of Jo's to take part in the lessons at their own pace whenever they awake, before they sleep or any other moments during the time of the day. "The greatest thing is that they are able to integrate the lessons into their routine," she explains.

Her online business was founded which gave her the flexibility to have the lifestyle she desired

When Jo began her Reset journey it was running each and every event held through her website. In the following years she changed her mind after being encouraged to join Reset by her coach. "You are all aware of exactly what you're doing, but I'm not" she chuckles.

Since stepping into the online coaching space Jo's lifestyle has transformed. As she was conducting an interview with us, she called from the hospital where she was joined by her daughter. "Eight years ago my daughter was diagnosed with a genetic disorder and has to be hospitalized for visits each month" she said.

" allows me to be a mother and manage my children and other relatives and keep my business running, even if I'm hospitalized because my daughter has to receive her regular transfusions," she continues. "Working online lets me care for my child as I want to while staying at home all the time so that I can take the care of her. I am able to go to the hospital for medical issues, while being in a position to pursue a career I'm passionate about, and not be stressed over it ."

Her next travels would be hers to design.

After completing The Reset, they have the option of enrolling in the course for three months known as The Purposeful actor. The class is a 3 hour session that lasts for 12 weeks. "The students of this class are a little more self-sufficient when it comes to responsibility and showing their worth. There are certain routines that they have to follow each morning, but they shouldn't trust me to perform this, and must come about their own plans, that's the reason." Jo declares.

Jo also offers Q&A sessions during The Purposeful Actor Journey as well as every week for three weeks. Once they have completed the Journey for their Purpose and completing the journey, participants have the option to join one year of membership, which is called BAMF Actors In Action, that stands for Bad-Ass Mother of F***ing Actors In Action. "I made the membership to ensure that I could aid people who completed the two walks who wanted to continue the instruction they received on this path," she says.

The Membership program has been running for the past four years. The membership includes a one-hour each month content session, gatherings which include weekly pods. There is also monthly Q&A session with Jo as well as a 6-hour summit that occurs every three months. "The membership allows members to decide how they'll leave the confines of their own home and do what they're expected to do and network with professionals in their field and write their own material, and increase their performance," she explains.

She performed with artists of different types

As per Jo she believes that the majority of the clients she works with who she works together are professional actors. However, there are many different types of artists like artists, storytellers, dancers, and musicians, and also regular people who "want to get over physical limitations" such as mothers and professionals like television hosts, professional athletes as well as therapy specialists. "Freedom is an issue for everyone who wishes to be fully expressed," she says.

Since the journeys are conducted in English they attract travelers all over the globe. "We receive visitors from all continent However, the majority originate originated in America, Europe, and Australia," she shares.

Most of her fans are aged between 20-50. Many are in the end of the third decade in their lives. It's normal for her to welcome those older than 70 and 80 into her journeys.

The clients were the ones who did the talking.

Regarding the marketing of her adventure, Jo says the word was largely spread via the influence of the word.

Her homepage has an embedded testimonial reel. It gives social proof to her work and boosts the credibility of her efforts. Her website is where visitors are able to sign-up for her monthly newsletter which she emails to her subscribers via her website. To collect email addresses, she gives two free training sessions as lead-inducers, such as stop trying to be a good Actor To Let You Have The Chance to become a great actor and"The Instinctive Actor. In addition to helping assist in capturing the audience's information, but they offer a preview of what she does as coach.

Additionally, she is a member of an Instagram page that is followed by more than 10,000 users. It also is also featured on podcasts, interviews blog posts and publications.

The price she chose is value for dollars.

Jo is determined to keep her travels cost-effective to everyone, particularly since actors frequently change on their income. "If you were to attend one acting class per week, it would cost you between $300 to $400. The majority of the times, students sit to watch other actors perform the play or scene, and you'll occasionally get the opportunity to take a turn" she says.

"These online trips are much less expensive," continues Jo. "The worth of our trips exceeds the cost we charge for them ."

The Reset cost less than $1000 USD. The Purposeful Actor was $1250 USD, and the membership is $270 USD for a month.

She stayed in the same area of potential

Although she's director for To Be Or Not To Act, Jo is firm in her desire to devote greater time to her imagination, which consists of creating content and coaching. Jo isn't tech-savvy preferring to stay "in the flow" performing her best work. "The various aspects involved in running a company isn't one of the things I'm most concerned about because it's not in my field of expertise," Jo explains.

Jo believes her achievements have been the result of hiring a coach from early on. In her quest to create forever-green experiences and try an opportunity, she took a class with a cost of $20,000 to find out what she could do to achieve the perfect journey. "It was a massive cost that forced me to take on an amount equal to half the cost. It was great that I was able to make it," she shares.

She believes that anybody is able to create an online company which is lucrative. However, she advises it's not an easy undertaking.

"It takes dedication and perseverance. It's essential to feel passionate about your work. As for me it's all I've accomplished since I quit the job I had in my twenties and this is the route I'll continue to undertake. This is because I am obsessed with the work. That's why, when things get tough, I stay with my commitment to it ."

Her idea was born out of her soul.

She suggests online creators remain realistic about the hard efforts they'll have to invest in making an online company that is successful. Also, she suggests that you take on the burden only if the subject you're presenting is one that's close to their hearts.

"The risk now is that the moment you sign for social media, you'll realize that people are instructing you making millions in two minutes, and that's just not true," says Jo. "It is possible that you've a possession dear to you, and you'd like to give it away to people that are more important to you than those in your region. It's not an easy task, however. This includes falling and then getting up. It is crucial to get coaching, and investing your time and cash until the structure is in place ."

Like Jo stated, if begin building your company from the heart It will help you build the strength to face even the tough times.

"An online company isn't just the chance to make cash. It should be developed by you, and built upon your job you're expected to do. If you don't, you'll lose the ball since it's too hard to handle." The coach explains.

"If you're doing this with a purposeful approach it will be possible to take on the challenge. If you're looking to make an easy buck it will be difficult to take on these responsibilities. My best suggestion I could give is to stay close to what's dear to your heart. It's crucial to be able to perform with the best level of performance at work because there is many competitors. You must be confident in the work that you're performing. ."

Her integrity was secured by her skills

If you ask about the new online trend in courses we could see by 2024, Jo believes that there will be a plethora of online classes. She says that the main difference between "McDonald's" classes and "gourmet" courses is courses created in a manner which is authentic.

"When there's an overabundance of stuff, there'll be two types of online work. There'll be McDonald's-style of lessons. There will also be quality and delicious courses. There are plans to achieve these or other goals in your lifestyle. It won't necessarily come from a place of integrity There are also people who have been doing this for years," she says.

In order to create that perfect style, it is obvious that her suggestion is to get back to the fundamentals.

"There is an enormous opportunity for people who reside in their heart and strive to serve other people," she continues. "The people that will require your assistance will realize that they are able to count on your services ."

"I'm happy for this gift that allows humans to be human beings to what's essential for us. It's incredible."
