Subscription Dashboard Reporting Calculation Improvements
When calculating MRR ARR, MRR, and MRR
Prior to this update, downgrades as well as extensions, weren't always correctly tracked or reported when it came to subscription reports. The issue was fixed and the calculations are expected to increase in the next few years.
What is the most important change I need to observe In My Store?
If you're making a lot of use of upgrades, downgrades or other features, you may observe that your MRR and ARR do not change much because of the new calculation. These calculations are more accurate when compared with previous reports with the fixes which were identified. If you're not certain, you can contact us at ([email protected][email protected].
Historic MRR Changes
Prior to this, we use the deactivation date to check on the date of cancellation before taking out MRR contributions. However, this had the unintended side consequence of altering the historical MRR value. To address this problem and to improve our analysis, we've updated our instruments to recognize cancellation events that take place on the date when cancellation happens and to remove MRR contribution on that day.
An example of a change
Consider an example of an annual subscription activated in the month of January 2023. It was cancelled in May 2023. It was then deactivated during December 2023. Our prior MRR contribution calculation, the amount of money paid wouldn't been changed until December 2023. This could have altered the MRR contribution over the period that ran from May to December 2023.
If we apply the dates in the above example, our calculation immediately ends the MRR contribution to the account starting with the cancellation date in 2023. This date is May, resulting in a more precise MRR Change calculation.
What kind of changes can I anticipate to observe In My Store?
For some sellers, this could result in an increase in cancellations, and consequently less MRRs for customers or subscribers who are currently active. If you're having questions about the reporting process, do not hesitate to get in touch with us at email address [email protected[email protected].
