Photographs in black and white - The CreativeMindClass Blog
We asked Titika about her secret for creating her mysterious photos in black and white.
"My Name is Titika Rotkjaer, I'm an artist hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark. After completing my communication studies at Roskilde University, Denmark, I relocated to Norway to pursue a degree in visual arts beginning at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts then in Bergen in Bergen, where I concluded my studies in visual art at Bergen Academy of Art and Design with a MA in Textile Art. I do not have formal instruction in photography. My understanding of editing and photography is derived from continuous self-education.
Would you like to learn more about my personal style? Would I like to discuss expression instead? I never think about style... In telling stories from a poetic and personal perspective Each image is a result of my concentrate on expression, mood, the mood. The way I create my photos is a procedure. My goal is always to improve and improve the clarity of the image. Sometimes , I edit old photos if I gain new knowledge which allows me to get closer to the expression I wanted to create.
The key to making the mysterious images I have created ...? For the majority of my photos that I have created over the past four years, I've been looking at the complexity and sense of self with a special interest in the relationship between inner and outer realities. Many of my images are not necessarily the same. comprise digitally from several photographs (all obviously, shot by me).
My approach usually begins with an intrigue or curiosity to explore a theme or a complex of emotions. I take pictures, make notes, read and gain more knowledge, and continue to shoot. The process of working with my images frequently leads me to construct a new one out of several other. I work experimentally, subjectively as well as intuitively with the theme to let my images unfold. There isn't an accurate vision of the final product in my mind's eye and after that, I shoot the components to construct it."
