Creativity runs in the family for artist and illustrator Kentaro Yoshida. His mother, who is also an artist, was a major influence in his work, even when she wasn't completely on board in his decisions for his career. "First she wasn't a big fan of my being a full-time artist. I think she knew how hard it is, due to her experiences. However, I decided to give the idea a shot and, thankfully, survived," Kentaro says. "She is definitely the biggest source of inspiration to me."

Kentaro is a native of the village of a fishing family in Toyama, Japan, but relocated to Australia aged 18 where he now lives in Sydney. Since that move and subsequent success, Kentaro has built a full-time freelance career as an artist, selling prints, custom painting surfing boards and murals, as well as working with big brands as well as musicians.

Read on to learn the ways Kentaro developed his distinct art style, and how his website has evolved to keep up with his style over the past decade, to help support his artistic career and express his personality.
