When Pooja Bavishi chose to establish her company for ice cream, Malai, she could do this by focusing on her personal ambitions. "I began Malai in order to celebrate the tastes I grew up with as a young Indian American in a popular and fashionable way," she says.

"Everyone will have an ice-cream moment from their childhood typically, it involves going to the local ice cream shop to share a treat with your loved people," Pooja says. The nostalgic fusion that has been created by Pooja took Malai from a stand at market stalls and food halls in the local area into freezers found in supermarkets and pop-up shops all over New York City, and a bustling flagship location located in Brooklyn offering local and national delivery.
