On writing great characters:
Mark: "Everything starts with writing. The idea that prompted the initial story of four office workers talking during a conference, did not really impress me. An excellent ensemble of characters helped make it simpler to grasp the story. We spent lots of watching the individual personalities of the characters along with their strengths and weaknesses, and how they complement one another, as well as ways that we could use them in order to make the story enjoyable and entertaining.
We wanted to expose the flaws of each character so they can be more accepted. Here's where the authenticity factor is crucial. I try to make everything more imperfect and love the idea that imperfections makes people charming. This is the reason why you love this.
It's crucial not to imagine these films as commercials that are typical. I like digging deeper into the backstory of each individual. More details are better. Each backstory provides information on the character's early years, including production, design, wardrobe. It makes it simpler for viewers to comprehend what every character's role is. So, I create characters to allow actors to take on their roles. This is evident through the movies you watch. If you are watching these three films it becomes apparent the impact that is constant."
If you violate the law:
Mark: "My tip would be to speak to someone that look similar to yours. Be as truthful as possible. Media is manicured. The advertising process in which characters and stories are trimmed away. characters are trimmed away. My advice is to rebuff this method, and don't hesitate to show to the world what it's like.
In the very first film I shot in collaboration with Apple I made an actor who was playing with the tablet. He was having fun with the tablet and then later during the shoot everyone was asking "What the hell's he doing?" We always tell our kids, "Oh, can we crush this? Do we have the right equipment? Do I have the ability to make an Ice Cream Cone?" Simply make it true. Remain true in the tale as well in the stories that we share. This is what draws people in and makes characters as well as stories endearing."
When integrating the product
Mark: "How you see the film's product is very planned. The entire film is inspired by the story. I strive to include products as the main focus in every scene. I create a narrative about the product and then create scenes with the product. The product should help to get us the place we want to be. When you weave the product into a story like that, the product shouldn't be a gimmick. It's part of the stories that your telling."
On taking risks:
There is a need to be prepared to accept the risk of having fun and establish a strong link with your business. It is my opinion it's the most important reason to take risks, however it is also important to establish good relationships with the people who you are taking on. Advertising can be shielded and protected from the job. In the event that you strip off a few layers, and are capable of speaking to them similar to people."
