How Stellantis is powering limitless learning via video

With a global workforce over 300,000, Stellantis manufacturer of brand names like Peugeot, Fiat, and Chrysler recognizes the importance of scaling, well, pretty much every aspect. "We are within the top five automobile manufacturers in the world," says Phil Price, Head of The Performance Academy, Stellantis. "As the development and learning sphere grew, we very quickly realized it was focused on what we could give our workers to boost their the performance of their employees." And so, The Performance Academy was created.

Based in the automotive capital of England The team at The Performance Academy produce thousands of hours of educational content for Stellantis employees. But in order to keep pace with their growing employee base they required a repeatable system to communicate information with teams across the globe. "We've been spending a lot of time studying the ways people would like to learn," says Phil. "Video-based virtual instruction will be the norm in the near future."

As a member of the community for over a decade, the team has always recognized the importance of video. This is why Stellantis has shifted their focus toward an entirely online approach. "With face-to-face instruction the requirement is to duplicate the same training 10 times, with 10 separate costs," he says. "With video, you can scale it to unlimited possibilities."

Unrestricted learning

"We have, typically, 350 hours worth of resources available during a weekly period," notes Phil. "Behind the 350-hour period, we've got tens of thousands of hours worth of content that has been developed and created over the last 12 years."

This library of information means every employee can learn at the time and place that is most suitable for their needs. "Our training is available 24/7," he adds. "That's crucial, as we see people doing this on their own terms since they're aware it's going to increase their personal performance."

Powerhouse productions

Now, The Performance Academy is expanding to live streaming on a daily basis, from sales trainings to board-level communications. In order to achieve this, The Performance Academy has been investing into their production capabilities, operating as a mini Hollywood studio located in the heart of Coventry, England.

"Look at where we are right now," says Phil. "We're inside our studio. We have the ability to animate an overlay, do anything that we want to. Anything you could see in a movie, you can do it in The Performance Academy."

Partners for growth

With the latest production tools as well as a seasoned team of L&D experts, The Performance Academy uses to create, host and share their works. "As the development and learning field has expanded, the company has continued to develop their delivery strategies, methods, and reporting," says Phil. "We've greatly benefited from this."

" As an organisation, we're thinking about, 'How do we make this work great and make it available to the customer?' One of the advantages we work with is that we're in charge," notes Phil. "It's a testament to scaling, the proper partners, appropriate team members and good ideas for how the future might look."
