Five reasons to join our New Slack Community: Global SaaS Leaders •

Mar 23, 2022

The short version of this article is this:

  • The company has just announced a fresh (free!) Slack community: Global SaaS Leaders.
  • The program is open to the leaders of established SaaS and software businesses (including founders! ).

The reason we're launching a no-cost Slack community

Because communities are awesome!

No, seriously.

Yes, there are others SaaS and software communities out in the world. A lot of them are fantastic.

When we began to think about developing the kind of community uslike to be a part of, we saw an opportunity to create something new.

To that end, we came up with Global SaaS Leaders as a space with five unique qualities:

1. Global focus

There were many SaaS and software communities which were U.S.-based or that were based around a specific area.

Global SaaS Leaders will be distinct. They may reside within the U.S., but our customers as well as the wider SaaS community are spread throughout the world..

When we build our community, we'll be conscious of establishing a broad members and an international perspective.

2. Designed for leaders from established SaaS and software firms

The most interesting software-related conversations we could find on the internet were about the idea of starting an entirely new SaaS company.

Conversations like these are extremely beneficial for those who are trying to build the foundation of a SaaS.

With that said, we observed that it is quite difficult to find helpful discussions between the leaders of well-established SaaS and software companies.

That's why we've chosen to build the community of SaaS entrepreneurs who think about expanding and scaling up an already established software business, not building minimum viable products or getting seed stage financing.

If you're a life-long entrepreneur who has an unfunded SaaS already doing $10,000 a month, we want to help you connect to others who are just like your.

Similar to if you're the developer lead at a venture-backed startup which just crossed the threshold of $10 million per year.

That will be our focus on the upcoming Global SaaS Leaders: to create a space where you can talk about the unique challenges that happen once you have reached the point of product-market-fit and start to expand.

3. Professionally moderated

It takes a dedicated and talented moderator (or group of moderators!) to build a positive, supportive culture in a community.

We've learned a lot through the Reddit community, r/entrepreneur for example.

However, even communities with high-quality amenities like this struggle at times with concentration. It's telling that the top. top thread in the past year was an angry post on how cryptocurrency has been overwhelming the newsfeed:

Katie Stephan and Nathan Collier (authors of this article!) is the initial moderation team in the launch of the Global SaaS Leaders community.

We have spent more than a decade managing online communities that have thousands of users.

And building and launching this community is part of our jobs descriptions.

The conversation will remain focused on SaaS as well as software as well as ensuring that there's no need to deal with unsolicited emails, spam Personal attacks, trolling of any kind.

4. It is not focused on venture capital or funding rounds

We don't care if you're in a bootstrap, venture funded, private equity supported, or another ownership model.

The world's SaaS Leaders won't be a place with a major focus on exit or funding strategies.

In addition, we want to create a place where you can have conversations about hiring, revenue and profit tools, pricing models, technical infrastructure and everything other that can contribute to the growth of an effective software company.

It's fine if members occasionally discuss the topic of funding. However, it shouldn't be the only debate.

5. The most helpful SaaS and software community anywhere on the web

There are some online communities that can be risky locations.

No matter who you are, no matter where you're from and what your experience, we'd like you to feel comfortable posting and interacting in our community.

Katie and I will do everything we can to foster a supportive and positive environment in the new community. We will also ensure that we'll not stand for individual attacks, bigotry, sexual discrimination, racism or any other disrespectful conduct.

Our aim is not more than that: to establish the most supportive SaaS and software community anywhere online.

How do I join to the Global SaaS Leaders Community

If you're the leader of an established SaaS business, we'd like to include you in our community!

We're aware that it's an extensive registration form, however we use this information to assess the overall quality of the community -- and to screen out any likely spammers.

There's also a FAQ on the application's website that might be able to answer your questions.

We'd like to invite you to join us!
