Over the course of nearly twenty years, Becky has gained working as an entrepreneurand even running a six-figure content marketing agency before launching her coaching business in the year 2015 Becky has learned the best practices in her favor when it comes to building an audience.

Today, three principles drive Becky's marketing

You don't have to follow the latest social media trends

Select long-term plans over immediate satisfaction

Protect your work-life harmony to create a lasting business

Every day, a brand fresh marketing trend is popping everywhere. Trying to keep up can be a fast track towards feeling overwhelmed and diverted away from your goals. Becky has made her conscious choice to concentrate rather on strategies and strategies that will work for her.

At the moment, this means the removal of social media sites that create more stress than success.

"I am really reaching the bottom of my barrel in social media," she says. "I've quit Facebook that's great. Also, with Instagram isn't a place I'm spending long periods of time there."

Becky's main guiding rule, letting go of the 'shoulds is also applicable to social media. This is especially if you're trying to avoid having too much to do at once.

"It begins to become a bit. It's time to start creating an account on TikTok, and then I'll need to make an additional reel... that includes a photograph along with video. Also, I need to come up with an idea that is thought-provoking to use for Twitter. And then I need to create something for Medium. The amount is too high," Becky describes.

"I feel we're getting to this point of overwhelming as a species, and people are beginning to realize that they need to shift something.'"

Instead of creating something entirely new from scratch for each platform, look for creative ways to utilize what you've done before. As an example, you could turn an existing YouTube video into shorter videos for TikTok as well as Instagram Reels. The transcript of the video can be used as the foundation of your newsletter or blog post.

What is it like how do you doown your target audience? You communicate with them using a method or channel that you control, like the email lists you manage, online community or your website.

Here's the way Becky explains the importance of email in establishing your target audience.

2. Make sure you choose long-term approaches over instant pleasure

After nearly two decades working as an entrepreneur Becky is aware of the strategies that are most effective for her. In the present, she is returning to those tried-and-true techniques -- even if they may take longer to pay off.

When you're building a business it's tempting to seek out methods to market that yield results quickly. It's easy to feel discouraged even if you're not seeing immediate results, but the strategies that require time and effort in the beginning usually result in more authentic and lasting relationships with your audience.

The kind of work Becky does demands honesty and vulnerability for her clients. As such, they must be comfortable with her before committing to coaching. Consistent communication through her emails helps build that trust.

"Before the individuals work one-on one with me, they generally are on my email list for six months or even a one year period," she explains. "I'm emailing them every week in order for them to meet me. Some of them invest in something smaller but, over a long time, the clients who will be my one-on-one clients will eventually invest in coaching."

The Gutsy Boss Podcast is another key piece of Becky's game plan for the long term. "That's been a long time to pay off," says Becky. "I've been running my podcast for the past four years, and I'm only beginning to see every month , I'm experiencing an increase in the number of people who listen to my podcast."

SEO means making your website, content, and products more accessible to users via search engines. Content that is optimized will show up more in the search results of appropriate terms and keywords. The more you optimize your content, the easier it will be for your intended users to find it via searches.

Becky was the founder of a content marketing agency before becoming an instructor, and SEO has endured over time throughout her the course of her career.

"SEO is an old standby which works," she says. "SEO is an extended sport, but one that pays dividends. Instead of making something that only has an average shelf life of 2 seconds, SEO can be an item that can go on for decades."

Since she has optimized the content on her website and blog with her specific audience in mind, possible clients can discover Becky's content via search. When they find it her blog, the content she has to offer as well as her unique viewpoint will keep them engaged, reading to her blog, subscribing and eventually turning into clients.

"I was the only one who could answer that question since there was no one other than me who answered the question this manner. If that was the only option they were able to come up with, then it was the one that resonated with them and that means I responded with the manner they wanted to hear in order for them to want to work with me."

Finally, Becky finds herself networking (what she describes as"an "old traditional method to market") as well as using that network to reach more potential customers.

"Getting involved and talking with my network of contacts, as well as doing old-school in-person networking to meet new people... being able to get in front of others' audiences has proven highly beneficial, whether it's summits or just partnering with others," she says.

What do all these strategies for building audiences have in common? They can help Becky keep a healthy balance between work and life, something that is more crucial more than ever before for creatives in the past few years.

3. Make sure you are in harmony with your family and work to grow a business that lasts

"It felt like, at once, every business was an online company during the pandemic. It caused a mass burnout," Becky recalls. "I'm feeling it from many folks: We're just exhausted from the demands of running an online company."

Becky seeks out ways to grow her audience and her business, without jeopardizing her life that she's built and hopes to lead. "I am a mom, and I'd like to live a life. I don't want my existence being a constant creation of media all the time."

"How do I make the best choices that allow me to live the life I want, but also still grow my following?"

Growing productivity and efficiency are wonderful, but not when they come at the expense of your mental well-being.

"I want to think about the ways I can use my time most effectively but not simply because I'm looking to get more done however, I want to have a life."

Let go of the 'shoulds to build the company which is right for you

Becky helps her clients develop businesses and not burn out. It's evident that comes from years of getting that balance for herself.

Her company has come a long way from her initial course that she launched in the year the year 2018. But the heart and soul of her coaching in helping people let go of those 'shoulds that's'shoulds' -- has remained constant with her products, contents, and own approach to growing.
