Authenticity in art - The CreativeMindClass Blog
Being connected to your inner self; the deep nature of who a person is.
Angela Maria Sierra, a spanish-born artist who portrays the real self and emotions she is feeling. It is evident in her models with a rich emotional life filled with sensitivity to ease and pleasure.
She is better known in the world of art as Riso Chan - photographer and art teacher currently living within The Netherlands. The artist is about to begin her art journey by creating videos and her very own YouTube channel! This was something she's always wanted to do for a very lengthy time. In bravery, despite the discomfort of talking to the camera, she uploaded an entertaining video of herself working, her life, and the creative environment in which she lives.
Riso Chan talks about accepting her true, sensitive self through her art work:
My work is extremely emotionally charged. My work is based on portraits which depict the emotions I'm feeling. I was always a very sensitive individual. Since I was a child I've had a feeling which always made me feel uncomfortable , and I would try to get it out of my system. (...) As you grow, you realise that actually it's alright and everyone feels differently. I decided to make use of my emotional energy that I bring to my everyday life to paint. I use it to fuel my imagination and spark new ideas. This is astonishing because of what I've been pushing down all my life and then, suddenly I was able to put it on sheet of paper and it felt like such a relief. It is now a place where I can use this sensitivity, I am able to use my emotions, pains, and joys and put them on paper. It felt really awesome and took me to a place that was filled with gratitude. It began to resonate with many others. I was opening to putting ideas on paper I'd did not think of previously. Instead of trying to be similar to other artists who had were already "made it" I listened to what I wanted to express and what I want to express as a person. I embraced something that I was not happy with about myself and I realised this was my true power. I'm really content being the most sensitive me.
