Art as a way to escape The CreativeMindClass Blog

I'm from Venezuela. I grew up in a very tropical city that was dotted with palm trees and hills. It was not allowed to fully experience the world around me (partly due to the excessive security of my parents as well as due to the constant insecurity within my country). The majority of my time was spent in the house. Reading and watching TV became my preferred forms of entertainment - and drawing! I'd spend all day drawing my absolute beloved characters from anime as well as my loved ones, family, pets I couldn't have, costumes, and anything really.

The primary reason for this was an activity for leisure at the time, and I was aware that it could not go beyond Venezuela. However, my family made the decision to move to the UK which changed my life. When I was a teenager I finally had the freedom to think for myself, and was allowed to explore places independently and to contemplate the things I wanted to accomplish.

My fascination with characters and stories prompted me to study comics that then led me to illustration. Everything became one. After some years of study (and numerous hours of work) I'm now working as an illustrator based in London.

My style is fun, bold and sometimes slightly chaotic (in an excellent kind of way!). Sometimes , the illustrations are simple while other times it's intricate each illustration is a representation of the person or animal, or an attractive scene. All of my drawings are part of the same universe.

To me, the primary thing is having enjoyable time when playing. I think of the aspects which made me smile in my childhood: bright shades, as well as charming characters, funny moments and tiny little details to get lost in. My goal is to incorporate the very most appealing aspects of all these when I come up with something brand new. If I'm able inspire the viewer to feel happy or content, or as if they've discovered something fascinating and fascinating and exciting, then I've achieved what I wanted.

"Another crucial element that I am looking for is a sense of humor. In the course of time, I've realized that I'm not a competent person to create intricate or abstract art However, I'm fairly adept in creating an enjoyable piece that will provoke laughter. I am playing to my strengths right now."
