Art and authenticity - The CreativeMindClass Blog
The process of connecting to your authentic self, the core of who one is.
Angela Maria Sierra, a Spanish-born artist, portrays true herself and the emotions she's experiencing. This is reflected in figures with rich emotional lives, full of sensitivity to ease and pleasure.
Her name is more well-known in the art world under the name Riso Chan, the portrait artist as well as an art teacher currently living in The Netherlands. The artist is about to begin her creative journey through videos as well as the creation of her own YouTube channel! It's something that she had wanted to create for a very long period of. In bravery, despite the discomfort of talking to a camera, she released an entertaining video of herself, her work, and her creative surroundings.
Riso Chan on embracing her sensitive true self through her art work:
My work is very emotionally charged. My work is based on portraits that portray the things I'm feeling. I was always a very sensitive and sensitive person. From the time I was a kid there was something that made me feel uneasy and I attempted to get it out of my system. (...) When you get older, you realise that actually you're not alone and that everyone experiences differently. I chose to channel my emotional energy that I bring to my everyday life to paint. I draw on it to stimulate my imagination and spark the imagination of others. That is amazing because the thing I had been striving to get rid of all day and then, suddenly I put it down on piece of paper and seemed like a great feeling of relief. Finally, there is a place where I can make use of this sense, where I am able to use my emotions pleasures, hurts, and pains and put them on paper. It felt really awesome and brought me to a place that was filled with gratitude. It began to resonate with number of others too. I began to open up and putting things on paper that I never thought of prior to. Instead of trying to look like other artists who previously "made it" I was really listening to what I wanted to convey and what I want to express as a person. I took on something that I did not like about myself , and then realized this was my true power. I'm very happy to be my authentic, sensitive self.
